Hello to all,
After some consideration and feedback we are looking at the idea of holding the convention as a one-day event with the theme ‘I Was Inspired By StarKid’.
This is an outline of how we envisage the day:
- Fan meet-and-greet with themed StarKid icebreaker games.
- ‘How To Start Your Own Theatre Group’ seminar.
- Learn StarKid choreography class.
- StarKid themed buffet lunch.
- Charity Presentation for http://www.childrenandarts.org.uk/ & Your Stories of how StarKid have inspired you.
- Fan StarKid Sing-a-Long/Viewing-show to be determined by Show Poll HERE
- A Very StarKid Costume Party.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in attending please let us know by taking part in our Attendance Poll HERE.
Thank You.
First of all we want to say a big thank you to all of you who have made this journey with us. The feedback and support from all of you has been amazing and we have loved every single one of your ideas and suggestions towards making PIGfAR:TS what we wanted it to be.
We regret to announce that we have now been informed that no members of Team StarKid will be able to make an appearance at PIGfAR:TS due to other work commitments. We did try our very best to explore the possibility and to make it happen and we’re very sorry that we have been unable to do this for everyone as we had hoped.
With this in mind we appreciate that the convention will not be able to proceed as we envisioned it as we understand from your feedback that people will be less inclined to attend unless one or more members of Team StarKid were able to appear.
At this point we have decided to leave the final decision in your hands as we know many people were very excited, much like ourselves, at the prospect of being able to meet and interact with fellow StarKid fans. We are happy to look at the possibility of hosting a scaled down one-day convention/event where we could hold a fan meet-up and still do some of the things we had planned to do while hopefully still raising a little money for our chosen charity. If you would be interested in attending such an event please let us know and we will consider if we have enough interest to make it viable.
Once again we thank you for all your support throughout the many weeks we’ve been working on this project. All we’ve ever been is fans just like you who have tried their best to make a little bit of magic happen. Despite being unable to achieve quite what we’d hoped for it’s been a pleasure to interact with you all and we can only give you the highest of accolades and say you are all true StarKids.
Love, peace & Red Vines,
The PIGfAR:TS Team
PIGfAR:TS – U.K. StarKid Convention plans to launch in 2013
PLEASE NOTE: At this time we have NO StarKids committed to appear, we are only in discussion for them to do so should the event go ahead.
We’d like to invite all our followers to join us over at the PIGfAR:TS forum on our website:
It only takes a moment to sign-up and you can sign in via Twitter, Facebook or Google. It is a very important part of the planning process as it helps us accurately gauge how many people would actually attend.
See you over there!
PLEASE NOTE: No members of Team StarKid will be appearing at this event.
Who the F.A.Q are you?
We are a collective of U.K. based StarKid fans, of varying ages and backgrounds, who would like to celebrate the joy we get from the group and their work, with fellow fans whilst raising funds for The Prince’s Foundation for Children and The Arts, http://www.childrenandarts.org.uk/
Phenomenal Individuals Gathering for Awesome Reasons: The StarKids, or PIGfAR:TS, will be the known universe’s first dedicated convention for Team StarKid, the media and theatre production company behind ‘Little White Lie’, A Very Potter Musical’, ‘A Very Potter Sequel’, ‘Me and My Dick’, ‘Starship’, ‘Holy Musical B@man’, The S.P.A.C.E Tour and APOCALYPTOUR.
Is this for real?
We’re as real as Red Vines, and we all know they can do anything. We really want to make this event happen as professionally as possible and to be fun for everyone involved. To tell you a little about us, we are all fans/volunteers working for free as we want this to remain a not-for-profit event put on for fans, by fans. Our current core committee members are all over 25 but we would be happy to work with anyone over 18 who feels they have the time and relevant skills to help us move the project forward to the next step. We also currently have some volunteers in the 18-25 age range and a general volunteer list for anyone under 18 who wants to assist in smaller roles.
When & Where will it happen?
The final date will be decided based on fan feedback and venue availability. We are happy to hold the event from April 2013 onwards.
We can’t confirm venue details until we know that the event will go ahead and can confirm with our venue but we can tell you that will be a 4 Star hotel with special room rates for attendees and good travel links for central London and Heathrow airport. We will also accommodate anyone travelling by floo powder power.
How much will it cost?
As we are still in the planning stage we can’t release details of how much attendance will cost at this point. Although we are a not-for-profit event the event will still cost money to host (renting venue etc.) which is why we will have to charge for attendance. Any money left over from sales will go to our chosen charity, as listed above along with any monies raised leading up to and during the convention itself. Once we have a clearer idea on how many people would attend we can working on setting prices. We can say that we are working our hardest to ensure it will be as affordable as possible as we want anyone who wants to attend to be able to join us and we are wiling to take suggestions of alternative ways to host the event.
What kind of things will be happening at the event?
As well as the opportunity to mix with your fellow fans the one-day event will have the theme ‘I Was Inspired By StarKid’.
This is an outline of how we envisage the day:
- Fan meet-and-greet with themed StarKid icebreaker games.
- ‘How To Start Your Own Theatre Group’ seminar.
- Learn StarKid choreography class.
- StarKid themed buffet lunch.
- Charity Presentation for www.childrenandarts.org.uk/ & Your Stories of how StarKid have inspired you.
- Fan StarKid Sing-a-Long/Viewing-show to be determined by Show Poll HERE
- A Very StarKid Costume Party.
Attendance Poll HERE.
Is there an age limit?
No, anyone can attend, but due to venue policy in most places, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is 18 or over.
Does Team StarKid know about you?
Yes. We approached Team StarKid’s talent agent, Pat Brady of CESD, with our idea and we obtained permission from her to gauge fan interest in the event with a view to booking guests. We were also in consultation with her regarding which StarKids fans would most like to see. We have since learned that they are now not available to attend the event due to other work commitments. We have obtained permission from her to broadcast one of their shows at the event.
What can I do to help?
At this point we could particularly use assistance in terms of marketing and promoting the event as, at this moment, reaching the fandom and letting them know we’re here is our main focus. This is also the reason that signing up to the website is important as it helps us accurately track interest in the event. It is also the easiest way for fellow fans to interact and discuss the event and your ideas as you can post on the forum and take part in polls. We need your feedback to let us know what you’d like to see happen. With your help we know that we’ll be more than pipe dreamers stuck on the bottom floor.
